A dollar today or x dollar tomorrow
Many companies are immature companies that show little profit or even loss and the whole deal is that they are developing a new product that promises earnings somewhere in the future.

Does the product need to be reinvented all the time?
Quote: “Take Easyjet, for instance. It created cheap flights to off-beat locations, and found that the public was ready and willing to take advantage.
Does the product need constant updating?”

Take the hotel industry, it is basically the business as it was 25 years ago.

On the other hand medicine and software companies needs to constantly update and reinvent their product. Take Microsoft - you could not sell Windows 95 today.

Success rate of the new product
It is difficult for new products to become major hits. Competition, cost or the fact that the product simply does not do what it says on the tin can all result in failure.

Market for the new product
Is there a big market for this new product and is it possible to sell it in large quantities or at a high price? It should also be possible to sell the product globally.
