The Oil Price is not very high or very low right now
If you are an avid watcher of the propaganda machinery on TV you may be fooled to think that the oil price is sky rocketing.
But imagine the news reporter coming on the screen an telling you that the oil price is not very high nor is it very low. In fact it has not really moved more than 60 % the last 40 years. Of course that would not be a very interesting news story. So instead let’s lie to the viewer and making him afraid and tell him that oil price is rocketing. That sounds more dramatic and will attract more viewers. Drama and sensations attracts viewers.
Price of Oil - the truth
The truth of the matter of oil prices is that it really moved that much in the last 40 years. That is a complete different story than what is told in the news today.
The proof:
In 1965 price of an ounce gold was about $50, at the same time the price of a barrel of oil was about $3. Fast forward to 2006, price of an ounce gold is $627 and a barrel of oil is $59.
So buying a barrel of oil in 1965 would cost 1/16.6 ounce of gold.
Selling the barrel of oil in 2006 would give us $59 which we could exchange for 1/10.6 ounce of gold.
So we get about 60% more gold/money for it thus oil has risen about 60% in 40 years.
If you believe the media, that is about how much the oil has increased the last two years.
The dollar has moved since 1965
And it has moved down.
The problem for Americans, that are complaining the most, are that in the same period the dollar has demised in value. That is really the core of the problem, but that is swept under the carpet. Instead of complaining about the declining dollar there is complaining about the oil price and the oil companies as being evil and making too much profit.
Kids often blame everybody else than themselves when something goes wrong, or stick their head in the ground - wait that is the ostrich, but it is the same thing.
